Griffin Barrouk tied his career-high 19 points, leading four Pioneers in double figures as the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team fell 85-79 to Saint Peter's on the road on Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action.

A Hill dunk at 16:02 put SHU ahead 9-6, but Saint Peter's answered with six straight points to take a 12-9 edge. Thomas responded with a jumper to pull within one, but the Peacocks hit a three-pointer to extend their lead to four.
A layup for
Bryce Johnson pulled the Pios within two, but Saint Peter's went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-point lead, 25-15 at 7:25.
Trailing 31-18 at 5:38,
Griffin Barrouk made back-to-back triples with an and-one to cut the Pioneers' deficit to eight. However, Saint Peter's answered each time to regain a double-digit edge. Down by 12, Barrouk hit his third triple of the day to cut the deficit to nine heading into halftime, 40-31.
The Pioneers came out of the break on fire, opening the second half on a 14-1 run to come from behind and take a 45-41 edge. The Peacocks pulled within two, but a triple for Hill extended the Pioneers lead, 48-43.
A pair of free throws for Saint Peter's tied the game at 50-50, and for the next two and a half minutes, neither team led by more than two with three ties.
Barrouk broke a 55-55 tie when he hit back-to-back triples to put the Pioneers ahead 61-55, but the Peacocks went on a 10-1 run through the next four minutes to take an eight-point lead, 70-62.
A Thomas layup cut the Pios deficit to six, 70-64, but Saint Peter's jumped ahead by 11 through the final few minutes. A pair of Hill triples pulled SHU within seven with 46 seconds left to play and Sacred Heart pulled within six twice in the remaining time, but it wasn't enough as the Peacocks held off the Pioneers for the 85-79 final.
