TYSONS, Va. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team picked up their first win of the season, 21-4, against Georgetown in game two of teams' weekend series on Saturday afternoon.
Gavin Donohue secured his first collegiate grand slam to shift to momentum to favor of Pios. While SHU's bats were hot with 16 hits, the Pios pitching held the Hoyas to five hits, four runs and secured a combined seven strikeouts.

How it Happened:
Georgetown struck first in the opening inning. With two outs and two runners on, the Hoyas secured an RBI base hit and a two-RBI double to take an early three-run lead.
The Pioneers responded right away in the second with a base hit from
Dante D'Amore. Zack Kolvalchik then worked a walk before
Chuck Tallman doubled through the left side, scoring both D'Amore and Kovalchik.
SHU took its first lead of the series in the fourth with a two-run double from
JW Fitzgerald, plating Kovalchik and
Peter Link.
Tim McGuire got things started in the fifth with a base hit to right field. G. Donohue hit a deep ball to the center to bring McGuire home and to secure a triple.
The Pioneers put up five runs in the sixth. Leading off, Fitzgerald singled with a bunt. Then with two outs, and two walks, the bases were loaded as G. Donohue delivered his first collegiate grand slam over the left field wall. The Pios did not stop there as D'Amore followed with a routine base hit to center and Link brought him home with a double to take the 10-3 lead.
The Pios did not stop there, as they tacked on two more in the seventh. With no outs and runners in scoring position,
Joe Cilea sent a sacrifice fly to center scoring Fitzgerald. Tallman stole third and scored on a wild pitch to extend their lead to 12-3.
The Hoyas added a run in the seventh.
As the leadoff man in the eighth, G. Donohue stayed hot at the plate with a double to left field and advanced to third on a wild pitch. D'Amore flew out to center, scoring G. Donohue. With one out and bases loaded, Tallman singled through the left side to bring Link home. Kovalchik dove headfirst to home on a wild pitch to score SHU's 15
th run. Cilea then singled to plate Tallman and Fitzgerald for the 17-4 lead.
SHU secured the 21-4 win in the ninth as it added four runs. G. Donohue walked, D'Amore doubles advancing G. Donohue to third. Link sent G. Donohue home with a single to short stop. Fitzgerald reached first on a Hoya error loading the bases. Tallman took a hit to his side, scoring D'Amore. Cilea worked a walk to plate Link. Dave York reached on a fielder's choice as Fitzgerald scored.
SHU will face the Hoyas in game three tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
