COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to the University of South Carolina, 8-0, on Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Founders Park.
Ryan Parker secured his first start as a Pioneer only allowing one hit and one run through four innings with two strikeouts.
Tim McGuire and
Alex Ungar each secured one hit for the Pios.

How it Happened:
After keeping the Gamecocks quiet in the first two innings, South Carolina added one run the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on the corner, Nathan Hall flew out to left field scoring Will Tippett.
With bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Kennedy Jones was hit by pitch scoring KJ Scobey to extend their lead to two.
Jonathan Peterson got SHU out of the jam stranding three runners on base striking out Talmadge LeCroy.
The Gamecocks struck again in the sixth. With runners on first and second, Blake Jackson doubled down the right-side line, scoring Tippett. The next batter, Nathan Hall, hit a three-run home run over the left field wall to extend the lead to six.
An RBI triple from Ethan Petry in the eighth tacked on another run for the Gamecocks. Jones drove in Petry with a base hit through right center to secure the 8-0 win.
Sacred Heart will head to Georgetown next weekend for a three-game series beginning Friday, February 21, at 3:00 p.m.
