NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Sacred Heart men's fencing team travelled to New York City for the George Kolombatovich Historical Meet at Columbia. The Pioneers put up a strong fight against the host school, falling 14-13 in their first match of the day and then were beaten by NYU 18-9.
Against Columbia, Sacred Heart was dominant in epee, winning 8-1. The Lions took saber 6-3 and foil 7-2.
SHU's epee squad was also victorious against NYU, winning 5-4. NYU took saber 8-1 and foil 6-3.

The Pioneers will compete in the NEIFC Championships at Mount Holyoke on Feb. 23.
