HAMDEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis duo of Ola Irla Bartyzel and Ava Nelson advanced to the finals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Masters Tournament on Saturday morning at the Quinnipiac Tennis Courts in Hamden, Conn.

In singles play, sophomore Ola Irla Bartyzel, the No. 6 seed, opened strong in the championship match, taking the first set 7-6 (7-5) in a tiebreaker against top-seeded Willow Renton of Quinnipiac. Renton responded with a 6-2 win in the second set before securing the match in the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-5.

In doubles action, Bartyzel teamed up with first year Ava Nelson to defeat Fairfield's Regina Herrera and Sophia Harris, 6-2, in the semifinals to advance to the final round. The Pioneer duo fell to Quinnipiac's Renton and Caitlin Flower in the championship match, 6-3.

Next up for Sacred Heart is the ITA Regional Championships at Harvard University, beginning Thursday, October 9.
