HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team dropped the first match of a two-game series against the third-ranked University of Hawai'i Friday night, 3-0.

How It Happened:
The Pioneers battled through five ties in the first set but were unable to overcome some errors falling 25-17.
After dropping the second set 25-13, the Pioneers went back and forth with the Rainbow Warriors in the third. SHU led by as much as three in the frame, 7-4, following two kills from
Petr Beranek. The Warriors answered with a 4-0 run on a series of kills and service aces to take back the advantage. SHU was unable to come back, suffering a 25-17 setback to give Hawai'i the victory.
Carlos Santa Cruz led the Pioneers with 10 kills, hitting .318. At setter,
Wilson Buchanan and
Colin Stevens combined for 26 assists with nine and seven, respectfully.
