Carly Koltko made it a 3-0 game with a two-run blast to left center. Koltko's homer is the first of her junior season and the sixth of her career.
Fordham hung a run on the scoreboard in the top of the second before SHU rebuilt its advantage with a two-run third. Following back-to-back singles to start the frame, two straight walks brought in a run to make it a 4-1 SHU lead. After a fielder's choice in the next at-bat,
Cierra Bender worked a bases-loaded walk to make it a 5-1 game.
The Pioneers extended their advantage to 7-1 in the fourth on a two-RBI double from
Charlene Davis. The sophomore catcher fired a rocket into left field that got over the head of the fielder and allowed
Sam Kowalski and
Nicole Henke to score from second and third, respectively. Davis has tallied a team-leading five RBIs this season.
Sacred Heart's pitching didn't miss a beat with a six-run advantage, holding the Rams to just two hits.
Emily Heath started and went 2.0 innings, while Kowalski pitched the final 5.0 frames, picking up her first win of the season after striking out seven without allowing a hit.
