ITHACA, N.Y. - The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team returned to the mat Sunday as the Pioneers participated in the 2024 Big Red Invitational, hosted by Cornell University, inside Barton Hall. The Big Red Invitational featured Cornell, Binghamton, Brown, Buffalo, Clarion, and Sacred Heart. The one-day event kicked off at 9 a.m. and was divided into two brackets: "A" and "B," with the Pioneers competing in bracket "B."
 
Of Note:

• Dakota Asuncion showcased resilience by delivering a strong performance on the mat, securing a first-place finish at 157 pounds with a commendable 3-1 record.
• Placing third in their designated weight class bracket were Nolan Hook at 157 pounds, Calvin Pineda at 165 pounds, and Nicky Eboli at 174 pounds. 
• Rounding out the top four placements was Michael Baker at 125 pounds, Anthony Samuels at 133 pounds, Taigh Merola at 157 pounds, Anthony Mann at 165 pounds, and Calum Price at 174 pounds. 
• It's worth noting that Price, along with Asuncion, finished the tournament with three victories.
