FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is traveling to Brown for the weekend for the College Hill Classic. The Pioneers will take on Holy Cross, New Hampshire, and Brown through the three days of the tournament (Nov. 15-17).

Opening Tip:

• The Pioneers will open with Holy Cross on Friday and New Hampshire on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and conclude the tournament against Brown on Sunday at 6 p.m. 
• SHU dropped its first three games of the season, 81-70 at Temple, 92-56 at #3 UConn, and 81-76 at Dartmouth. 
• Amiri Stewart and Tanner Thomas are averaging 10.3 ppg through the first three games. Bryce Johnson is leading the team in rebounds with 6.7 rpg. 
• Anquan Hill made his first appearance for the Pioneers against Dartmouth, leading the team with 20 points off the bench. 
• Sacred Heart returns three active members from last year's team: Thomas, who made nine appearances before missing the remainder of the season with an injury. Raymond Espinal-Guzman, a redshirt junior forward who appeared in 24 games last season, and Aidan Carpenter, a redshirt junior guard who made 30 appearances with 16 starts. 
• Thomas was named to the All-MAAC preseason third team. 
• Johnson returns to Sacred Heart after a year at Northeastern.
• This year is Sacred Heart's first season as a full-time member of the MAAC.
• The Pioneers have 10 new players on the team. 
• Head Coach Anthony Latina begins his 12th season as head coach and 20th year overall with the Pioneers. 
• SHU is set to officially reopen the newly renovated William H. Pitt Center on Thursday, Nov. 21, against Central Connecticut State University at 8 pm.

College Hill Classic:
SHU vs Holy Cross

• This will be the 19th meeting between the Pioneers and Crusaders, dating back to 1999. Sacred Heart is 8-10 all-time against HC.  
• SHU has won the last three meetings, 2023, 2022, and 2019.

SHU vs UNH

• This is the ninth meeting between Sacred Heart and New Hampshire, dating back to the program's Division II days in 1979.
• SHU holds the series advantage, 6-2.
• The Pioneers lost the very first game of the series, 108-82, on Jan. 28, 1979, and fell in the most recent game last season, 90-84, on Nov. 30, 2023. SHU has won the remaining six. 

SHU vs Brown

• This will be the ninth meeting between Brown and Sacred Heart, dating back to 2009.
• Sacred Heart is 3-6 all-time against the Bears.
• The Pioneers took the first meeting, 83-78, on Dec. 30, 2009.
• The two teams haven't played since Dec. 5, 2021.

Last time out:

• Sacred Heart fell 81-76 to Dartmouth on Saturday.
• Anquan Hill made his debut for the Pioneers, scoring 20 points and shooting 80% from the field.
