LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Kyran Thievon's career-high nine saves stole the show as the Sacred Heart University women's soccer finished the weekend slate with a scoreless draw on the road against Rider.
It was one-way traffic for a majority of the first half for the Pioneers as the hosts sought to get on the board with a plethora of chances. However, starting goalkeeper
Kyran Thievon was perfect for the first 45 minutes, stopping six shots against the Broncs to hold the hosts at bay.
On the other side, SHU had their lone opportunities on frame stymied by Rider's Ellie Sciancalepore late in the first half as opportunities for
Jaci Budaj and
Lindsay McShea went begging. Finsihing with six saves in the frist half, Thievon singlehandedly kept the Pios in the match as the halftime whistle blew with the teams tied, 0-0.
The Red & White flipped the script on Rider in the second half, grabbing a multitude of opportunities to take a 6-2 shot on goal advantage. Though it was SHU who threatened until the end, ushering the last chance on frame with under a minute to go, the Pios could not find the back of the net as neither side was able to find the breakthrough en route to a scoreless draw.
