FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team returns home for two straight Northeast Conference games this week. First up, the Pioneers will host Stonehill for the first time this season on Thursday, February 1, at 7:00 pm in the William H. Pitt Center.

- Sacred Heart fell on the road to FDU on Saturday, 93-91.
- Nico Galette recorded his fourth double-double of the season and second in as many games, with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Alex Sobel also recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
- Kyle McGee led five Pioneers in double figures as he scored a SHU career-high 23 points. All five starters scored in double figures.
- The Pioneers battled back from a 21-point deficit in the second half and pulled the game within one but were unable to complete the comeback.
OPENING TIP:
- Sacred Heart and Stonehill meet for the first time this season and for the 37th time overall, dating back to 1966-67, when both teams were in Division II. SHU holds the series advantage 22-13. Stonehill is in its second season in the NEC.
- The Pios return home after back-to-back road games at Saint Francis and FDU.
- Sacred Heart is 4-3 in Northeast Conference play with wins over Saint Francis, LIU, and Wagner at home and Le Moyne on the road. All the losses have come on the road at Merrimack, Saint Francis, and FDU.
- Three active Pioneers are averaging in double figures: Nico Galette (14.3), Alex Sobel (12.0), and Joey Reilly (11.7). Sobel leads the team in rebounds (7.4), and Galette is second with 6.9 rpg.
- Sobel is tied for third in the nation in blocks with 61 (as of 1/30) and tied for fourth in blocks per game with 2.9.
- SHU has four active 1,000-point scorers, which is tied for the third most in the NCAA.
- Reilly, Galette, and Tanner Thomas have brought in NEC Player of the Week awards for the Pioneers this season. Sobel has been a Prime Performer three times.
- Galette, Reilly, and Kyle McGee were voted captains for 2023-24.
- SHU was selected first in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Galette and Reilly were selected to the All-NEC preseason team.
