STONY BROOK, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team fell in a 4-3 heartbreaker at Stony Brook on Friday.
The Pioneers won the doubles point on two 6-4 wins from the teams of
Katsiaryna Starastsenka/
Olivia Kharkover and
Kim Fenton/
Vitalina Golod.
Starastsenka clinched a victory in straight sets at No. 1 singles to make a 2-0 lead for SHU. The Seawolves tied the match before Golod earned another straight-set win at No. 2 to put the Pioneers back up by a point.
Unfortunately, SHU would not hang on for long as Stony Brook notched the final two wins to bring the match to its final score.
Up next, the Pioneers wrap up the regular season with their final Northeast Conference match at St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday at 1 p.m.
