QUEENS, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart University softball team traveled to the Big Apple this afternoon to play St. John's in non-conference action, suffering a pair of losses at the hands of the Red Storm. The Pioneers fell in game one 7-4 before an 11-0 setback in game two.

Sacred Heart's offense came alive in the fourth, cutting the deficit to one, 5-4. The frame started with a
Sam Kowalski single and an
Amy Petrovich double to put runners on second and third.
Nicole Henke brought the first run in with a single to left center.
Emily Carroll plated the next two runs with a two-RBI single. Then,
Victoria LoPinto brought the final run in with a single to left center that drove
Samantha Kostek home.
Unfortunately for the Pioneers, St. John's added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth frames to earn a 7-4 victory.
In the pitching circle, both
Liv Vadas and
Emily Carroll threw 3.0 innings.

St. John's controlled the action in game two, as it took the contest by an 11-0 final score in five innings.
Carroll led the Pios' offense in the nightcap by recording two of the team's three hits. She also tallied a stolen base.
Kiley Gurysh posted SHU's final hit, her first double of the season, in the top of the fifth inning.
Carlie Williams started and threw every pitch for Sacred Heart in game two, finishing with a season-best three strikeouts.
