SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A slow start didn't deter the Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team on Tuesday as it bounced back to defeat American International. The Pioneers won the last three sets for the 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20).

Sacred Heart found its offense in sets two and three, committing only five errors, with a .500 hitting parentage, to grab a 2-1 lead.

AIC pulled within 20-19 in the fourth set before
Ryan Benscoter produced a kill and a block. A
Nick Galasso block pushed the lead to 23-19 before the Pioneers went on to win.Â

Reaching double digits for the first time in his short collegiate career was first-year
Carter Lyons with a team-high 11 kills. Galasso just missed a double-double with nine kills and nine digs.

Sacred Heart hit .306 while limiting the Yellow Jackets to .088. The Pioneers also had 13 blocks to AIC's five.
