SMITHFIELD, R.I.— The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team extended its win streak to five with a 4-3 edge at Bryant on Sunday. The Pioneers' win streak is the team's longest since 2011.
In doubles, the Bulldogs took the first match at number three. The teams of
Vitalina Golod and Kim Fention and
Katsiaryna Starastsenka and
Flavia Rambaldi came back to take number one and two to win the point.
In singles, Bryant tied the match but Starastsenka and
Olivia Kharkover won at number three and one to put SHU back in front, 3-1.
The next two matches went to Bryant which brought the contest to another tie. But Rambaldi was there to secure the win at number five singles in three sets to lead the Pioneers to victory.
SHU has a week's hiatus before hosting Fairfield on Thursday, Mar. 9., at 11 a.m.
