Alex Sobel scored a season-high 23 points, and
Kyle McGee tallied his 1,000th career point as the Sacred Heart men's basketball team fell 93-79 on the road to the University at Albany on Tuesday evening. Four Pioneers scored in double figures.

Sobel and
Aidan Carpenter both scored in double figures in the opening half to lead SHU. After a
Brendan McGuire layup to tie it up 10-10, UAlbany was able to put away the next five points to take a 15-10 lead. The Pioneers spent the rest of the half chipping away at the Great Danes' lead.
Another McGuire layup would bring the Pios within four, 17-13, at 11:29, but UAlbany answered and pulled ahead to take a 21-13 edge. At 7:48, the Great Danes made a three-pointer to extend the lead to 11, but it didn't take too long for Carpenter to drain a three that cut the SHU deficit to six at 6:50 in the half.
With 2:26 on the clock, UAlbany took a 13-point lead but thanks to a trey from Carpenter and a Sobel dunk, SHU trailed by seven, 45-38 at halftime.
McGuire knocked down a three to open the second half to bring SHU within four, 45-41. With a 47-41 lead,
Mike Sixsmith and Sobel combined for the Pioneer's next four points, cutting the Pioneer's deficit to three, 47-44 at 17:56.
The Great Danes went on a 10-0 run to take a 60-46 lead at 14:27 in the second half, but the Pioneers answered, again.
Raymond Espinal-Guzman made a dunk that sparked a 6-0 run to pull SHU within eight, 60-52. However, UAlbany stopped the Pioneers' momentum as the Great Danes eventually took a 19-point lead with 6:35 left in the game.
SHU was able to fight and cut the deficit to 11 with 2:40 left, but UAlbany jumped back up to increase their lead.
McGee made a layup with 43 seconds left in the game for his 1,000th career point and the 93-79 final.
Sobel went 11-15 from the field as he recorded his first 20-point game for the Pioneers, while McGee matched his season-high 12 points, going 5-9 from the field. Carpenter shot 50% from the field, and McGuire had an impressive showing, going 4-5 from the field, for a season-high nine points.
