Nico Galette tied his career-high with 27 points and tallied his second double-double of the season as the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team fell, 90-84, to New Hampshire at home on Thursday evening. Four Pioneers scored in double figures in the setback for SHU.

After trailing 48-34 at the half,
Alex Sobel and Galette led a strong surge in the second half to chip away at the Wildcat lead and eventually tie the game with just under three minutes to go.
New Hampshire took its largest lead of the game at 18:35 in the second half, 54-34, and was able to maintain a double-digit advantage until Galette made a jumper at 12:09 in the second to cut the deficit to nine, 60-51. The jumper sparked a 10-2 run capped by another Galette bucket to pull the Pioneers within three, 69-66 at 6:03 in the second.
New Hampshire made three straight free throws to take a 74-68 lead at 5:15 in the second. However, Galette answered again for the Pioneers, and Sobel picked up a huge steal and brought it to the hoop for a dunk, bringing the Pios within two, 74-72, at 4:32.
With UNH up by four, 78-74, Galette and Sobel added back-to-back buckets to tie the game 78-78 with 2:48 left. The Wildcats answered with a jumper, but Galette made another one in the paint for an 80-80 tie with 2:10 remaining.
The Wildcats scored the next five points to take an 85-80 lead, but
Joey Reilly knocked down a jumper to bring the Pioneers within three. UNH added three straight free throws to hold an 88-82 advantage with 18 seconds left in the game.
Kyle McGee made two free throws for the Pioneers to pull within four, but SHU could not close it out in the final seconds as New Hampshire took the 90-84 final.
SHU shot 51.28 % (20-of-39) from the field, outscoring UNH 50-42 in the second half.
