How It Happened:
The Red Flash took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-22. Sacred Heart drew the match closer in the second set, cutting SFU's hitting percentage from .435 in the first to .256 in the second. The Pioneers took an 11-5 lead early in the set behind three blocks. Unfortunately for SHU, SFU began to chip away at the lead until they were up 18-17. A 4-0 surge by the home team helped seal the set to give it a 2-0 advantage in the match.

The third frame started with a 4-1 run by SFU. The Pioneers began to eat away at their deficit until a 7-1 run by the Red Flash gave the home team a 16-8 advantage. SHU again began to chip away, getting as close as five, 23-18, by the end of the set. However, SFU had a big enough lead to hold off the rally, sealing an NEC sweep with a 25-18 victory.

Individually, Dominique Felix and Camryn Luginbuhl led the Sacred Heart attack with nine points each. Felix had seven kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace, while Luginbuhl paced the Pios with eight kills and a solo block. Gaby Zovko finished the match with 18 assists on the team's 27 kills, to go along with three aces and three digs. Emily Sawyer and Cristina Montanez were both stellar in the middle, tallying four blocks each.
