Of Note:

With Michael Hernandez batting fifth for the Pioneers, the sophomore reached first off an error by the third baseman which allowed Jordan to notch his 100th career run in the first inning.

One batter later, Joe Emerson stole home off a throwing error by first base to give the Pioneers an early 2-0 lead. With George Sutherland at the plate, the pitcher attempted to pick off Hernandez stationed at first, but the first baseman's error allowed the Bridgeport, Conn. native to steal second. Waiting for the green light by head coach Nick Restaino, Emerson was also able to capitalize off the throwing error to steal home for the first time in his career.

In the bottom of the first, the Minutemen retaliated with two runs off a triple to centerfield to knot the score at two apiece. The home team recorded two more runs in the first to pad their lead by two, followed by a two-run home run in the second.

Mark Smith cranked out his first career homer in the third to cut the deficit to three.

A solo home run by the Minutemen sealed the 7-4 victory despite Ryan Donnelly's ninth-inning rally to bring home Steven Schoen for the Pioneers' fourth run.

The Red & White was narrowly outhit 8-7 but stranded nine runners while UMass only left three on base.

The Pioneers' bullpen totaled seven strikeouts. Charlie Costello retired three-straight batters in the fourth inning, along with Michael Attonito in the sixth.
