Patrick Mucherino and
Ife Loverton pulled SHU within 11-9 in the second set, but the Tigers would inch away and close with a 5-1 stretch.
Â
The momentum swung back and forth in set three. The Pioneers staved off five match points before taking a 29-28 lead thanks to a Mucherino kill and Princeton error. Unfortunately, the Tigers would win three-straight points to win the match.
Â
Sacred Heart hit .353 in the third set, but couldn't slow down the Tigers as they hit .425 for the match. Princeton also had an 8-2 advantage in blocks.
Â
Mucherino led all players with a match-high 13 kills. In his final collegiate match, senior
Aaron Peterson had eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
Â
The Pioneers bring most of their starters back for the 2023 campaign, but will have to replace Peterson and Loverton in the middle.Â
