WINDSOR, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's tennis team's Northeast Conference Tournament run came to an end on Friday morning. The Pioneers fell, 4-1, to number two Fairleigh Dickinson in the semifinals.
SHU dug itself a hole when they dropped the doubles point to kick off the day. The Knights took second and third doubles, 6-4.
Vitalina Golod was the lone Pioneer to grab a win. Golod took third singles in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3. FDU went on to clinch the match with wins at second, four and fifth, leaving
Katsiaryna Starastsenka and
Olivia Kharkover unfinished at first and sixth.
Despite the loss, the Pioneers close out one of the most successful seasons in program history. With a 12-13 overall record, SHU posted the most wins in a single season in program history.
