Pioneers Outlast Coast Guard 4-3

SHU moves to 4-11 on the year

Box Score TRUMBULL, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's tennis team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Coast Guard on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers now move to a 4-11 overall record. 
 
Coast Guard took the doubles point with a clean sweep over the Red & White before seniors William Wibmer and Kevin Chao won in straight sets at first and fourth singles. Sophomore Matyas Vencl and first-year Darius Eftekhar outlasted their opponents in three-set matches at third and sixth. The match came down to Eftekhar at six after splitting the first two sets. The rookie won the super tiebreaker, 10-8, to bring the match home to SHU. 
 
Sacred Heart will resume Northeast Conference play on Saturday against Bryant at 6 p.m.
