Baseball Falls 15-5 at St. John’s

Ryan Donnelly leads the Pioneers with a pair of runs and an RBI

QUEENS, N.Y. — In game two of the three-day series, the Sacred Heart University baseball team lost, 15-5, at St. John's on Saturday.

Of Note:
The Pioneers took an early 2-1 lead after the first inning. Ryan Donnelly doubled to left-center to bring Justin Jordan home. Two at-bats later, George Sutherland singled through the right-side allowing, Donnelly to touch all the bags and put SHU up, 2-0.

The Red Storm recorded one run at the bottom of the first inning off a double down the left-field line, followed by a pair of runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead.

Tyler Galletti knotted the score at three apiece with a single through the left side to allow Michael Hernandez to cross the plate in the fourth inning.

Off a sacrifice fly to centerfield in the fourth, St. John's tallied another run to take a 4-3 lead.

In the fifth inning, Donnelly notched his second run of the game off Joe Emerson's out to tie the game, 4-4. Two batters later, Hernandez snapped the tie with a single to left field to bring Sutherland home.

The home team took a five-run lead in the fifth and remained hot with five more runs across the sixth and seventh innings.
