Sacred Heart Prepares for Rematch with SFBK

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— After losing its fourth-straight contest against LIU, Sacred Heart University women's basketball team looks ahead to the next with a rematch against St. Francis Brooklyn at the Pitt Center on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on NEC Front Row with Randy Brochu and Freddie Coleman on the call. The game will also celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
 
OPENING TIP
·     Sacred Heart looks to snap a four-game losing streak and win its first home game since December 31. The Pioneers are coming off a 50-46 loss against LIU on home court. Sacred Heart had 22 turnovers in the contest, the same amount the Pioneers committed in their 72-44 loss at La Salle on December 18. 
·     Sacred Heart leads the series against the Terriers and holds the 18-8 advantage at home. The Pioneers won the last meeting at the Pitt Center 84-63 on February 29, 2020.
·     Both teams first met this season at St. Francis Brooklyn on January 27, with the Terriers winning the contest 63-37. The Pioneers were held to .280 percent from the field and turned over the ball 20 times. Sonia Smith led Sacred Heart with 12 points while grabbing six rebounds.
·     Sacred Heart leads the NEC in the fewest turnovers with 253, with the lowest amount committed in its first game of the season at Hartford on November 10.
·     Smith and Adrianne Hagood rank in the top 10 in the NEC in scoring. Both are averaging 12.3 points per game apiece. Smith also ranks fourth in steals (1.5) and fifth in assists (4.4). Olivia Tucker ranks fourth in the league in three-point field goals made with 2.2 per game.
