Seniors Lead Pioneers to 5-2 Win Over Army

Braeden Tuck and Neil Shea accounted for 6 points on the evening

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.- The Pioneers honored their seniors well on Friday night as they defeated Army West Point 5-2 on senior night.

Of Note:
  • Army jumped out on the scoreboard first in the opening period with a goal off the stick of Eric Huss 12:15 into the period.
  • SHU answered back less than two minutes later as Neil Shea found the top shelf of the net off feeds from Braeden Tuck and Rourke Russell to even the score up at 1-1, 14:12 into the period.
  • Shea came back for more in the second period as 9:50 into the period he fired his second goal of the game off a pass from Tuck to give SHU a 2-1 lead.
  • Five minutes later, while on the power-play senior Todd Goehring tallied his seventh goal of the year 14:23 into the period to give SHU a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.
  • Senior Ryan Steele nailed the second power-play goal of the evening 3:54 into the period off assists by Nick Boyagian and Logan Britt.
  • After a goal by Army's Thomas Farrell 8:17 into the third, Andrius Kulbis-Marino launched an empty-net goal from the other end of the ice to secure the 5-2 victory.
  • Shea tallied his fifth multi-point game of the season while Tuck recorded his sixth.
