FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team got better as the match wore on, but couldn't keep up with NJIT on Friday. The Pioneers lost a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) EIVA contest to the Highlanders.

Mark Berry put the Pioneers up 10-8 in the first set. NJIT came back with a 6-0 run on its to way to taking the set.
Set two swung on a 6-1 Highlander run. An NJIT error pulled the Pioneers within 21-19 in the third set, but the visitors closed thanks to a trio of SHU miscues.
Sacred Heart couldn't slow down the NJIT offense as the Highlanders hit .347 to the Pioneers' .167. SHU did have a 23-17 margin in digs.
Four Pioneers had six or more kills, topped by a season-high seven kills by
Aaron Peterson.
Patrick Mucherino posted six kills and six digs.
