Sacred Heart Faces Bryant in Rematch on Friday

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— Looking to snap its six-game losing streak, the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team heads to Smithfield for a rematch with NEC foe Bryant on Friday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on NEC Front Row. 

OPENING TIP

  • Sacred Heart is currently on a six-game losing streak. The last time the Pioneers lost that many games in a row was during the 2019-20 season.
  • Sacred Heart has a 21-13 lead over Bryant in the overall series, including 11-3 on the road. The Pioneers have won the last four road contests at Chase Athletic Center.
  • The last time both teams met was December 31, ending in Sacred Heart taking the 80-61 victory. Adrianne Hagood had 22 points and a perfect performance from the field with 7-of-7. Sonia Smith was second in scoring with 19 points.
  • Sacred Heart leads the NEC and is 54th nationally in the fewest turnovers with 288, with the lowest amount committed in its first game of the season at Hartford on November 10.
  • The Pioneers are second in the conference and 23rd nationally on defense in three-point field goals.
  • Smith is ninth in scoring in the NEC, averaging 12.6 points per game. She also ranks fourth in steals (1.6) and assists (4.6) per game. Olivia Tucker ranks third in the league in three-point field goals made with 2.3 per game. Carly Stroemel is tied for fourth in blocked shots with 1.0 per game.
