WEST POINT, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team went on the road Thursday at Army and nearly came away with the victory, but was defeated by the Black Knights, 50-48.

Carly Stroemel scored 11 of Sacred Heart's next 13 points to bring the Pioneers back in front, 45-42.

Sajada Bonner converted a three-point play at the 3:41 mark to give SHU a 48-44 lead. Unfortunately, SHU would not score the rest of the game and
Ny'Ceara Pryor's buzzer-beater missed the mark.
Sacred Heart held Army without a field goal in the first quarter as the Pioneers got out to a 16-4 lead. The Black Knights returned the favor and pulled within 21-17 at the half as SHU was 2-of-12 in the second quarter.
Stroemel led with a season-high 13 points and matched her career-high four blocks. Pryor finished in double-figures for the eighth time this season with 11 and led the Pioneers with four steals.
