FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a 72-34 victory over Hartford on Monday.

Sacred Heart shot 42% from the field and while Hartford was at 28.9% and 30% at the free-throw line.
The Pioneers dominated the Hawks on the inside, outscoring them 38-14 in the paint and tallying 15 points on 20 offensive rebounds. Sacred Heart also outrebounded Hartford 50-26.
