Lombardi Nets Two in 6-3 Win

SHU Beats Bentley By Spreading the Wealth

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The best way to come out of a skid is to score a bunch of goals while spreading the wealth. That's what the Sacred Heart Men's Hockey Team did today with six goals from five players and assists from nine different players in a 6-3 win over Bentley at Total Mortgage Arena.

SHU, which got a pair of goals from senior Kevin Lombardi, ended a five-game losing streak to improve its mark to 7-7-1 overall and 7-4-1 in Atlantic Hockey.

The Pios, who had a 1-0 lead after Neil Shea's fifth of the year in the opening frame, broke it open in the second with three goals in 2:43, including the team's first shorthanded goal of the year by Austin Magera. Daniel Ebrahim and Kevin Lombardi added tallies in that short span.

Senior Luke Lush made 23 saves to earn the win in net.

"Really proud of how our group responded today," said Sacred Heart head coach C.J. Marottolo. "We obviously are going through a tough stretch and I was really happy with how we stuck together.   I think going through this adversity now will help our group as we move forward."

PIOS POINTS

SHU, with 23 points in second place in the Atlantic Hockey standings, trails first-place RII by three points.... Rookie forward Blake Humphrey was awarded a penalty shot with 7:23 left in the first period but could not convert the chance with the score 1-0… Sacred Heart, which moves into its new home, the Martire Family Arena, for practice next week, is next in action on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when Hockey East's Northeastern comes to TMA for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
