PIOS FULL GAME NOTES

The SHU Men's Hockey Team (6-6-1, 6-3-1 AH)  looks to produce some holiday conference points with a weekend set at home against Bentley (3-10-0, 1-5-0 AH). The Pioneers and Falcons meet Friday at 4 and Saturday at 1 p.m. in a pair of games airing live on FloSports TV from Total Mortgage Arena.

THE SERIES
SHU has a 38-29-6 edge in the overall series that started with a 9-4 Pios win in 1994. The Pios won three of the four meetings last winter, including both at Bridgeport.  The SHU wins were 5-1, 5-3 and 3-1, while the Falcons took one of rheir home games 4-3.

PIONEERS
SHU, holding on to second place with 20 points after a pair of non-league games, looks to stop a four-game skid with two important conference games at home. The Pios are coming off a 2-1 loss at Cornell on Tuesday when Luke Lush, who has a 2.39 goals against with a .909 save percentage, stopped 30 of 32 shots. Aidan Connolly had the visitor's goal, but he and his teammates could only produce 18 shots on target.SHU took a 1-0 lead into the third period before giving up goals two and 12 minutes into the final frame. Graduate student Todd Goehring, who had a four-game goal streak earlier this year, leads the team with six tallies, while rookie Marcus Joughin has five. In addition, senior Neil Shea has a team-high 12 points.

BENTLEY
The Falcons, who have lost three in a row, have not skated against anyone since dropping a weekend set (2-0, 5-2) at Army on Nov. 18-19. However, Bentley has wins over Maine, Lindenwood and Air Force. Junior defenseman Nick Bochen leads the team with nine points, while graduate forward Dylan Pitera has a squad-best five goals. At the other end of the rink, rookie Connor Hasley (2-4-0, 3.07) and junior Nicholas Grabko (1-6-0, 4.20) have all the decisions between the pipes.

MATCHUP
The Falcons are averaging two goals a game with 30 shots on target, while giving up just over four tallies per contest. They have four power-play goals to date and are killing off a little better than 72 percent of opponent's chances. The Pios are producing 26 shots per game and three goals on average. They have tallied eight with the advantage and have allowed seven.
