FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team dug itself an early hole and despite its best efforts could not come all the way back. The Pioneers lost 65-55 to Iona on Sunday.

Olivia Tucker drained a three and Sacred Heart went on a 16-7 run to cut the score to 40-32 going into halftime.
First year
Ny'Ceara Pryor posted a scoring run of her own with six-straight points in the final two minutes, but it was not enough for the Pioneers to complete the comeback.
Iona shot 58.1% (25-43) from the field compared to Sacred Heart's 41.5% (22-53). In addition, the Gaels outscored the Pioneers 36-18 in the paint.
