Sacred Heart Faces Iona at Home on Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team returns to the Pitt Center to host Iona on Sunday. The game begins at noon on NEC Front Row with Randy Brochu and Asia McCray on the call.

  • Sacred Heart returns to the Pitt Center to host Iona for the first time since 2013.
  • The Pioneers look for their first victory against the Gaels since 2014 and first home win in the series since the first meeting in 1977.
  • The last time the two teams met was in New Rochelle in 2020. Iona came out with the 72-64 lead over Sacred Heart. Carly Stroemel and Kelsey Wood had eight points apiece in the contest. Wood also grabbed a team-leading 10 rebounds.
  • Ny'Ceara Pryor is leading Sacred Heart with 12.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.5 steals per game in her inaugural college season. She is currently ranked nationally in steals (2nd, 18) and steals per game (8th, 4.5).
  • Carly Stroemel leads the NEC in blocks (7) and blocks per game (1.8). The senior is also nationally ranked at 41st (blocks) and 84th (blocks per game) in both categories.
  • Mannetti enters her 10th season as head coach. She holds a 128-136 (.485) overall record and 95-67 (.586) in Northeast Conference play.
  • Sacred Heart was picked to finish sixth in the NEC Preseason Poll.
