NORWALK, Conn.—The Sacred Heart equestrian team had its first loss of the season, 9-1 against Sweet Briar on Sunday in NCEA action.

In the fences portion of the competition, Sweet Briar took a 4-1 lead. Mackenzie Hamilton had her first collegiate win in the fences competition, scoring 80 points to beat Maggie Booth, 58 points. The Pioneers were setback by a small margin. Lily Bove had a very tight competition only falling by one point, 80-79, and Mia Poppinga came up two points short, 83-81. In the fences competition, the Pioneers (378) scored better than Sweet Briar (372), but the Vixens had more points, 4-1.

Sweet Briar swept the flat competition, going 5-0. The Vixens took the 9-1 final over the Pioneers.

Sacred Heart is back in action on Sunday at the UConn IHSA show.
