Barrett Sets Diving Mark at Stony Brook

Sophomore breaks school record in one-meter event.

STONY BROOK, NY – A strong performance by the Sacred Heart University diving squad highlighted Saturday's competition at Stony Brook. The Pioneers dropped a 190-110 decision to the Seawolves. 
 
Sophomore Lola Barrett led a one-two-three sweep of the one-meter board with a winning score of 246.45 to set the school record. She took down the record of teammate Olivia McNicholas by nearly 10 points. McNicholas finished second with a score of 235.72 that is just off her old mark. 
 
Rounding out the sweep was Natalie Carbone with a third-place 234.75 that is third on the SHU career charts. Also cracking the all-time top five was rookie Reghan Santoro with a 229.57.
 
It was McNicholas' turn to take the top spot in 3m event with a score of 237.22. Carbone broke into the top five in that event with a third-place 223.50. Barrett was a spot back in fourth with a career-best score of 219.00
 
The Pioneers got two more victories in the individual swimming events. Charlotte Kaduson touched the wall at 10:53.87 to win the 1,000 free. The rookie just missed out in 500 free, placing second at 5:21.36. Senior Casey Barrett captured the 100 backstroke with a top time of 1:00.52.                                                                                                                                            
 
The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Barrett, Emma Davis, Ella Krikorian and Kelly Bartnett took second in 3:43.30.
 
Sacred Heart (0-3 overall) is back in the water next Saturday to face Northeast Conference foes LIU and Howard.
