Box Score

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Defensemen Hunter Sansbury, Conner Hutchison and Patrick Dawson and left wing Ryan Steele scored goals for the Sacred Heart Men's Hockey Team, but it wasn't enough offense in a 6-4 Atlantic Hockey loss to Niagara at Dwyer Arena.

SHU (2-2, 2-1 AH) erased a 3-0 deficit with three straight tallies in the second period but left for intermission down 5-3. A breakaway goal by Steele at 9:51 of the final frame gave the Pioneers hope for another comeback. However, the home team found an empty net with 1:29 left to put it away.

Sacred Heart and the Purple Eagles (3-2, 1-2 AH), who had a 32-27 edge in shots, meet again tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

PIOS POINTS

Chikara Hanzawa first collegiate point was a picture-perfect crossing, lead feed to Todd Goehring on a one-timer off the edge of the crease that  hit the goalie and was followed up by Dawson… Sansbury got his first collegiate goal when he converted a great pass from Austin Magera to open the scoring for the visitors… Four blueliners had points tonight… Luke Lush, who gave up five, made 25 saves in his second start of the year.
