Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Five different Pioneers found the net, including a pair of first career tallies, and senior Luke Lush stopped 22 shots as Sacred Heart completed the weekend Atlantic Hockey sweep by beating Holy Cross tonight 5-1 at the Hart Center.
Lush was outstanding all game, especially on the home team's numerous quality chances. Only a bad bounce off a defender late in the game prevented him from posting the shutout.
First-year forwards and linemates Blake Humphrey and Daniel Ebrahim, junior John Jaworski, senior Braeden Tuck and grad student Todd Goehring all scored for the Pioneers, who notched a six-point weekend by jumping out to a four-goal lead.
"I'm really proud of how we finished the weekend and how hard we competed," said SHU head coach C.J. Marottolo. "We got contributions up and down our lineup, I'm really happy we had two rookies get their first NCAA goals, while Luke Lush stood tall when we needed him too."
Senior Neil Shea added a pair of assists as the visitors outshot Holy Cross 37-23.
Sacred Heart did not score until 25 minutes into the game, but the ice was tilted in its favor the entire game. Nine of the SHU shots on target came on seven scoreless power-play opportunities, but the Pioneers' ability to control the puck and outskate their opponents more than made up for it.
