FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University women's rugby team looks forward to a season of normalcy when it kicks off the 2021 slate against Quinnipiac on Friday, September 3 at 4:00 p.m.
"After a long 2020 year for everyone, we are excited to be back together and playing a full season again," said head coach
Michelle Reed. "We are extremely happy with the hard work the girls put in during the offseason and excited for the team to take the pitch against Quinnipiac."
The Pioneers welcome four new faces to the team including sophomore transfer
Fabiola Millien-Faustin, and first-years
Rosanna Down,
Alyssa Cunningham, and
Bim Jensen-Ostlund. SHU returns 21 student-athletes to the roster including junior
Stephanie Wilson who tallied a pair of tries in the Pioneers 17-10 victory over Mount St. Mary's on March 31, 2021 to complete the 24 member squad.
Sacred Heart looks for its first win against the Bobcats in program history as the Pioneers have faced Quinnipiac four times since 2016. Most recently, SHU fell, 33-12, to Quinnipiac with the Pioneers edging just two tries in spring 2021.
Following Friday's match, the Pioneers will go on the road to face Brown on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m.
