Pioneers Shutout Saint Peter's, 4-0

Four Pioneers found the back of the net in the second half

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Four second-half goals lifted the Sacred Heart University women's soccer team past Saint Peter's in a shutout victory to close out the non-conference slate. The Pioneers blanked the Peacocks, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon.

Of Note
Seven minutes into the second half, Grace O'Hara got her head on a cross from Desiree Crawford to get the Pioneers on the board, 1-0. 
 
In the 60th minute, O'Hara had her hand in the second goal when she found a wide-open Olivia Kells at the top of the box. Kells fired it into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.
 
Maria Nolan and Madison Palma put the nail in the coffin with a pair of unassisted goals in the 71st and 82nd minute. Palma's goal marked the first of her career. 
 
Sophomore Leanne Durham picked up several firsts while in between the posts. In her first career start, the Tewksbury, Mass. native stopped a career-best three saves in her first shutout victory. 
 
Sacred Heart carried the tempo of the match as they outshot Saint Peter's, 14-6, and tallied seven corners compared to the Peacock's three.
 
The Pioneers continue their perfect record against the Peacocks as they grow the all-time series record, 7-0. Sacred Heart last topped Saint Peter's, 1-0, in 2019.
