FAIRFIELD, Conn.- It was a senior day to remember for the Sacred Heart University women's rugby team as they swept LIU to conclude the 2020-21 season on Saturday afternoon. SHU played in three games against the Sharks in two ten-minute halves per game. 

Game 1

Score: SHU 31, LIU 5

Of Note

• The Pioneers scored all three tries in the opening half with two coming from senior Isabel Cuddy with 6:08 and 3:55 remaining in the half.
• Very few scrum attempts occurred in the game as SHU took two wins while LIU also tallied two.
• SHU would score two more tries in the game first coming from senior Tessa Buckey with 8:28 remaining in the half to add her total to two on the day.
• Senior Madison Gorrigan would register the final try for SHU with just 23 seconds left to put SHU over the top in the 31-5 victory.

Game 2

Score: SHU 22, LIU 15

Of Note 

• SHU took the early lead again in the opening half with a try by Buckey off a feed from Stephanie Wilson to put the Pioneers ahead 5-0.
• After LIU evened the score with 3:03 remaining, Buckey would score again with just 48 seconds left in the opening half to put SHU ahead 10-5.
• Back and forth tries occurred for both sides and sophomore Isabel Keller would register the game-winner with little time left to seal the 22-15 victory over the Sharks.

Game 3

Score: SHU 33, LIU 15

Of Note

• The Pioneers would dominate the opening half with four tries while the defense held the Sharks to zero points.
• A pair of tries by Cuddy and Buckey would put SHU ahead 26-0 at the break with three conversion attempts succeeding as well.
• LIU would score three tries in the second half but the Pioneers would prevail in the end with the 26-15 victory.
