FAIRFIELD, Conn.- A hard-fought outing by the Sacred Heart University women's rugby team wasn't enough as Quinnipiac defeated the Pioneers by a final score of 33-12.

- Quinnipiac would jump out to an early 12-0 lead in the first half before in closing minutes senior Isabel Cuddy would find the touchline off an assist by Kaitlin Lagase to put the Pioneers within reach 12-5.
- SHU would come out strong in the second half as sophomore Mackenzie Youngblood would find the touchline with 14:40 left in the second half and after the completed conversion by De Poortere, the score would be all even at 12-12.
- The Bobcats answered back though with three straight tries and three made kicks to result in the 33-12 loss.
- SHU won the scrum battle 15-12 while lineout wins were almost even with Quinnipiac edging the Pioneers 8-6.
