WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.— The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team was neck-in-neck with Monmouth down the stretch but propelled to a 63-60 victory in overtime.

The two teams battled back-and-forth all game as the score was tied ten times throughout the contest. In the final minutes, Monmouth sent the game into overtime with a pair from the stripe to even the score at 55-all.
In overtime, the Pioneers captured all eight points from the charity stripe shooting eight-for-12. SHU was 0-2 from the field but still maintained to outscore the Hawks, 8-5, to grab the victory.
The Pioneer turned their defense into offense as they forced 23 turnovers which turned into 22 points.
The Hawks scored 16 second-chance points off of 15 offensive rebounds.
SHU shot 35.5% (22-62) and 35% (7-20) from three-point range. Monmouth shot 32.3% (21-65) and 12.5% (3-24) from behind the arc.
Adrianne Hagood led the Pioneers with a season-high 25 points and drained 12 of them from the three-point line. The graduate student also moved up in the SHU record books with 1,261 points and 178 three-pointers made in her career. Amanda Pape (2003-07) holds the record for points with 2,045, while Maddie Cosgrove (2007-11) leads with 255 career three-pointers made.
Smith came off the bench and racked up 18 points while
Kelsey Wood notched a career-high 17 rebounds throughout the game.
