FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net as they fell to Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon.
The Pioneers fall to 4-6-1 and 2-3 against conference opponents. The Knights improve to 6-5-2 overall and 3-2 in NEC play.
FDU grabbed an early lead in the 14
th minute when Briana Esteves played a through-ball to Aitana Martinez-Montoya to draw
Elyssa Kipperman off her line.
Martinez-Montoya converted again in the second half at the 49:34 mark off a header from Madelyn Robbins during a free kick.
Despite the two-goal deficit, the Pioneers were the aggressors as they outshot the Knights, 18-10, and led in corners, 7-2.
