Sacred Heart Earns 2-1 Win Against Saint Francis

Mulhare and Pearson scored in the Pioneers’ first win of the season

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— After several near misses, the Sacred Heart University men's soccer team broke through for its first win on Sunday against Saint Francis. The Pioneers grabbed a 2-1 victory against the Red Flash.

Of Note:
Jack Mulhare scored his first goal when he got Sacred Heart on the board in the 39th minute off a free kick from Lucas Miquel Castrillo.
 
Saint Francis tied the game at 1-1 when Piet Wesling headed the ball into the back of the net in the 54th minute.
 
The Pioneers responded in the final minutes when Pearson connected on the assists from Segundo Navarro and Rob Taylor IV to seal the 2-1 win.
 
SHU goalkeeper Justin Siegel posted five saves throughout the contest.
 
Sacred Heart took 11 shots and put three on frame,  while Saint Francis notched six on 22 shots.
 
The Red Flash also led, 9-1, in corner kicks.
