Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Trailing early in its Northeast Conference tilt on Tuesday against Mount St. Mary's, the Sacred Heart University women's basketball team got back into the game momentarily, but couldn't match MSM's firepower. The Mountaineers defeated the Pioneers, 84-60.

Turnovers were one of the main culprits as the Pioneers handed the ball over 20 times, which MSM converted into 17 points. Mount also knocked down nine three-pointers.
Both teams shot well from the floor, with the Mountaineers holding a 48.3-to-43.8 advantage, and both connected on over 80 percent of their free throw attempts.
Mount St. Mary's came out on fire, jumping out to a 14-point lead (17-3) on a Jessica Tomasetti layup. SHU chipped away and Sonia Smith sliced the margin to 24-20 with a layup at the 7:39 mark in the second quarter.
The Mountaineers held the Pioneers to nine points the rest of the half and finished on a 22-7 run to go into the intermission up 46-29 on a Kendall Bresee layup in the closing seconds. Mount shot 56.7 percent in the first half.
In the second half, the lead grew to as many as 26 points, on a Michaela Harrison three-pointer and the closest SHU got was 14 on a Kelsey Wood three-point play midway through the fourth quarter.
Leading the Pioneers was Adrianne Hagood with 13 points. She took 20th on the SHU all-time scoring list with 1,047 career points. Notching a career-high was Carly Stroemel with 10. Wood came off the bench to score eight points and grab a game-high eight rebounds.
Mount had five players in double figures, topped by Harrison's 15 points while Aryne Taylor chipped in 14. Tomasetti came off the bench to score 12 points as the Mountaineers' reserves outscored the Pios' 32-20
