SHU Tops St. Francis Brooklyn, 66-60

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's basketball team (11-16, 7-9 NEC) beat St. Francis Brooklyn (11-15, 7-8 NEC), 66-60, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt Center.

How it happened…

The Pioneers led from start to finish working up their largest lead of 18 points at the 9:24 mark of the fourth quarter. The Terriers were able to get it down to three points with the shot-clock turned off as Jade Johnson went 1-of-2 at the free-throw line but the Pioneers went on a 3-0 run to end the game.

The numbers…

Erin Storck had a game-high 21 points including 17 points earned before halftime. She also added five rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals.

Candice Leatherwood had 15 points, four assists, two rebounds and tied a team-high four assists. She also had a steal. 

Tykera Carter had 11 points, four rebounds, and one assist.

Noteworthy…

  • The Pioneers put up 13 blocks which marks a season-high.
  • SHU has evened this season's series with the Terriers, 1-1.
