Box Score The Sacred Heart University field hockey team opened MAAC play at Monmouth, falling 4-0 Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in league play, while the Hawks improve to 8-2 and are 1-0 in MAAC action.
Rookie Hailey Power made a career-best 18 saves, playing the entire game in goal for the Pioneers. That total is the sixth-best single-game total in Division I field hockey this season. Power made 14 saves in the second-half, not allowing a goal on the 19 shots in the period from Monmouth.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, travelling to Brown University.
