HARRISON, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team ended Fordham's seven match winning streak, sweeping the Rams 5-0 on Saturday evening at Life Time Athletic. After taking the first two doubles matches to finish, the Pioneers went on sweep four singles contests to clinch the victory.
Brian Power and Karan Narula each won twice on the afternoon. Power and Matt Dean were 6-2 winners at first doubles, their team-best tenth victory together, while Naurla partnered with Derek Chapman for the duo's third consecutive win, a 6-4 decision at the third position. Power then cruised by a score 6-1, 6-2 at first singles before Narula defeated his fourth flight opponent 6-3, 6-4.
Mathieu Pilote-Schraenen also highlighted the result with his third straight victory, and the sixth in his last seven matches, dropping just three games at fifth singles. Pilote joins Cory Seltman atop of the team with 13 wins, as he won for the second night in a row, 6-0- 6-4 at position number six.
SHU competes in its third match in three days on Sunday, returning to Northeast Conference play with a 1 pm start at Wagner.
