The Sacred Heart men's tennis team was shutout by Marist on Friday afternoon at Army West Point, dropping the Pioneers back to an even .500 at 4-4 on the year. The teams played singles first and match was stopped when Marist won four matches because of time constraints.
Brian Power's combined seven-match winning streak between singles and doubles play came to and end with a 6-3, 6-4 loss at first singles. Cory Seltman also saw a winning streak snapped, as he had won four in a row in singles play before a 6-3, 6-3 loss at fifth singles.
Karan Narula and Derek Chapman were the two Pioneers with the the most games won on the day, as both of their matches were not finishyed. Narula was leading 2-1 in the second at fourth singles after losing a first set tiebreak. Chapman was down 6-5 in the second set after dropping the first, 6-3.
Omar Abdo appeared in his first career match for SHU, losing 6-2, 6-0 at sixth singles.
Sacred Heart returns to West Point tomorrow to take on Army at 5 pm.
