Box Score FAIRFIELD, CONN.- The Sacred Heart Women's Volleyball team continues to impress the NEC conference as they move to 7-1 today after sweeping St. Francis Brooklyn. The Pioneers now hold the best record in the NEC after CCSU lost today to Robert Morris.
1st SET- The Pioneers started the day off slow as they only lead 12-11 until senior Sarah Krufka tallied a few kills to help the Pioneers gain the slight advantage of 24-19. The Pioneers went on to take the set 25-20.
2nd SET- The Pioneers were led by senior Ana Gonzalez on the service line as she picked up back to back service aces to give the Pioneers the early lead of 6-2. As the Terrier had a late rally to keep them in the match junior Maddie Losure sent a booming kill to electrify the gym, and force the Terriers to take a timeout. Liisel Nelis closed out the set with a service ace to win 25-22.
3rd SET- After two close sets the Terrier managed to keep the third set close taking an early lead of 14-12. Ana Gonzalez yet again managed to lift the Pioneers with her spectacular serving, adding another back to back service aces to give the Pioneers the lead 20-14. The match was closed out by an attack error from the Terriers and the Pioneers went on to win 25-18.
The Pioneers are back home tomorrow as they take on LIU Brooklyn at 2:00pm!
